Currently Croaker is iced in the harbor, I don't have any word from the naval park at this time of future plans of movement. It won't move until the blasting is complete and that won't be done until the ice is gone. I will be at the boat on Sunday Feb 9th from about 12:45PM till about 3:00PM doing a walk through. I have e-mailed Jerry Nicholson in regards to the flooring but have not received word as to its whereabouts. Talked with Dick Smith at the Naval park and he has yet to receive the material. The park will be closed to the public until 29 Mar 03, I have a call in to a local contractor in regards to deck removal/asbestos abatement. The Naval Park has a contractor that will do the deck once its prepared and the decking material is in. I will be removing the stainless molding from the crew's mess and berthing areas. Dick Smith suggested that the access to the aft battery compartment be covered and access could be through the hatch instead, this would make more room in this compartment and make it more of original display. This would also make the deck covering installation easier. I will not be at the Saturday meeting due to other commitments, and questions can be directed to me at 716-684-6700 ext 324.
The Croaker is still afloat at a berth adjacent to the Naval Park and will remain there until permanent power panels are completed. End of Oct was last date I heard but that was full of speculation. The work weekend that was proposed by Brian Flynn of North Carolina who participates with other Torsk bandits at the end of October will not transpire, he did not get anyone to respond to his internet request for coming up to Croaker for the weekend of OCT 26-27. We will try again for the Spring, any suggestions what weekend would be good for some of our members? The proposal for the tearing out of the crew’s mess and the Crew’s berthing area’s has been received and a proposal for floor replacement has been received. A list of maintenance items is on hand any additions or deletions can be made. Still looking for a volunteer to coordinate with Jim Flanders to get an operational radio working in the radio shack.
